Good Morning,
The weather continues to provide us with above normal temperatures and some beautiful Fall golf weather. We have had some heavy frost some of the mornings but a fair amount of golfers have been enjoying the course this weekend. The Muni will be closing for the 2026 golf season at the end of the day tomorrow. Monday, November 24, will be the final day of golf. We are extremely thankful for each and everyone of you that chooses to spend your recreational time with us.
Our clubhouse and maintenance staff had our end of the year get together on Saturday. Everyone was able to enjoy some pizza and watch the Cyclones and Hawkeyes both come away with victories. Not everyone was able to make it but we did get a few pictures of the staff that was present. I would like to thank each and everyone of them for another great season at The Muni. We are so fortunate to have team members that take a great deal of pride in the condition of the golf course as well as providing friendly customer service in the clubhouse. It’s more than a job to each employee.
This past week our main focus was tree removal and hauling away all the debris to the tree site. The Park Department was on site to assist with some of the tree removal. We removed and hauled away 27 trees from the golf course early in the week. There were eight trees cut down that still remain on the ground. We also have six trees that have not been cut down yet. That will be a total of 41 trees missing from the golf course in 2026.
They also assisted us with removing all of the existing tree debris from the maintenance shed surrounds and the south end of the golf course. These were trees we lost in the derecho and other small ash trees removed earlier in the Fall. The Park Department assistance was much appreciated and we are glad to have these areas cleaned up.
The 0.75″ of rainfall this week really limited the amount of work we were able to complete on the golf course. The course conditions were very wet and the heavy equipment was leaving too many tracks to go out on the course. This week we will continue with the tree removal and cleaning up some of the existing trees that are already on the ground. One of the large ash trees slated for removal is in the picture below. Stump removal will be scheduled once the ground starts to firm up from the cold weather.
I started winterizing the irrigation system Friday morning. I was able to blow out the main lines in a few hours and decided to start completing lateral lines on about 1/3 of the golf course. It generally can be winterized in about twelve hours but that turns into a long day. The remainder of the golf course irrigation will be winterized starting early tomorrow morning.

Kipp Davis started working on his clubhouse mural this past week. It is coming along very nicely. Hopefully it will be completed in the next week or so. The completed project will display a beautiful view of #12 at The Muni.

Enjoy the remainder of this beautiful weekend. Sunshine and minimal winds should provide some great outdoor activities. Please reach out with any questions or the need for additional information on a topic at the golf course. We hope you all have a very Happy Thanksgiving this week!
