Good Morning,

This past week started off with very wet soil conditions following 4.4 inches of precipitation over Labor Day weekend. The staff did a fabulous job getting the golf course back in excellent condition in a short period of time. Conducting maintenance practices on saturated soil conditions is always difficult.

Cooler temperatures have arrived and the humidity has lessened, which will help reduce disease pressure on the golf greens. We still have some small dollar spot lesions on several greens. The high humidity and nighttime temperatures created the perfect petri dish for fungal growth. I will treat the greens again early this coming week along with a foliar fertilizer application.

The irrigation system was shut down for several days while we completed irrigation repairs. We found several cracked irrigation lines on the mainline side of the valves. These repairs are common for an irrigation system that is 26 years old. Some small irrigation repairs still need to be completed in the near future but they don’t affect the operation of the system.

We also completed several equipment repairs. Staff always practices preventative maintenance on all of our equipment but unexpected issues arise. We had a large hydraulic line blow on one of the Toro 4000-D mowers used to mow the rough. We anticipate some turf loss in the area where this occurred. Several other small repairs were completed on multiple pieces of equipment.

The Muni is currently offering 2027 season passes, driving range passes, cart storage, or punch cards. Any of these fees include the remainder of 2026 and all of 2027. It’s a great opportunity to purchase that cart space you’ve been debating. Play golf for the remainder of this year at no extra charge with your 2027 membership.

We also offer the option to pay for your season pass by monthly automatic withdrawal from your bank account. Log in to your profile on our website, click the home button, scroll down to golf pass automatic withdrawal, and then fill out the form. This will break your 2027 season pass into 10 monthly payments if you start within the next week.

On Tuesday, staff will fertilize fairways, tees, and green surrounds. This is our Fall application which helps provide essential plant nutrients through the remainder of the season and carry over until late May 2027. Completing this process will take us about six hours. We ask the golfers to please show some patience if staff is working on a hole you are playing.

The weather looks a little shaky over the next few days with rain and wind in the forecast. Remember to swing easy when it’s breezy at The Muni!
