Good Morning,

Weather conditions definitely changed, with a high of 66, lots of wind, and 0.25 inches of rain on Friday afternoon. It was definitely a change of pace following many days of high temperatures in the 90’s. The golf course held up very well during the extreme conditions and remains in very nice shape for our golfers.

Early in the week, I met with Ross McWhirter, to discuss the bidding outline for the asphalt cart path overlay project scheduled for October. Bids will open later this month and hopefully we will have a competitive bidding process.

The maintenance staff will start maintenance practices in the upcoming weeks to prepare for the project. Some of the initial work will include spraying the knotweed growing along the cart path edges and removing weeds or grass growing in the cracks of the paths. This will help speed up the preparation process for the contractor.

The existing crushed concrete, on some of the paths, will be removed and hauled to the maintenance parking lot. I will also create a traffic flow map to minimize the damage to the golf course during the project. This map will also outline entry and exit points for the equipment.

Outside of Friday it was another very busy week at The Muni. We had a golf event on Saturday followed by open golf in the afternoon which kept the course busy most of the day. The week days were also very busy. Our rounds of golf played have increased each year over the past six years. It’s great to see so many people enjoying the golf course.

At the end of the week I started working with our software provider to update the online portal for golfers. This upgrade will go into service next week. It is a little more user friendly for the customer as well as for technical support. This upgrade is the latest version of their online software. It will eliminate some of the error messages and double booking of tee times that have been occurring.

This coming week staff will be busy with normal daily maintenance practices as well as working on projects around the golf course. It’s been a very busy year with all of the projects needing completion as well as some that are still in progress. This pace will continue for the next several months.

Enjoy the remainder of the weekend. Please reach out with any questions. Sunshine and smiles are in the forecast!
