Good Morning,

This past week the main focus was our daily maintenance practices along with squeezing in work on a couple of our ongoing projects. The golf course is in great shape as we finish out the week at The Muni!

Recent fertilizer applications along with high temperatures and humidity, have the turfgrass growing at a rapid rate. We increased our fairway mowing frequency this past week to ensure great fairway conditions throughout the week. We also brushed greens twice which helps promote healthier turf and lessens the grain and density of the bentgrass. Kudos to the staff for putting in so much effort to make the course shine!

We also spent some time continuing to work on our sand traps around the golf course. We added new sand to multiple traps on the course. Two of the worst sand traps were the fairway bunkers on Hole 14. We added approximately eight tons of sand to these two traps alone. This is an ongoing project that will continue through the Summer.

Landscaping remains a focus for another week. We water the plants every other day. Also, we received the plant materials for the waterfall and gazebo landscaping areas. Additionally, some plant materials were missing from certain teeside landscaping areas. The plan is to plant these early in the week.

#5 Green 7-11-26.jpegI applied several tank loads of herbicide to help control the clover that is present around the golf course. The majority of the large areas have been treated. Some light hand spraying remains necessary to control small areas of clover. Completing additional applications will happen throughout the remainder of the season.

The irrigation has continued to run nightly. We completed several repairs this past week. I also adjusted quite a few individual stations on the greens and surrounds. These adjustments involved rotation angles and time frames. The overall results will create more uniform coverage and better water management. The upcoming forecast shows temperatures in the 90’s so the system will continue to get a workout.

  • New plant materials added to landscape
  • Insecticide application on fairways, tees, green surrounds, and some rough areas for grub control
  • Fungicide, foliar fertilizer, micros, and wetting agent application on the greens
  • Hauling sand to additional bunkers

#5 Approach 7-11-26.jpegThis past week we hosted several small golf group outings as well as open golf. The Salute to Veterans event was on Saturday. Today we are hosting the Couples tournament. The golf course continues to be extremely busy daily. We are seeing a record number of rounds this far into 2026. It’s great to see so many golfers out enjoying some recreational time at The Muni. The goal is to accommodate our open golfers as well as our scheduled events.
