Good Evening,

This past week at The Muni staff continued to work on daily maintenance practices on the grounds. We are now mowing at a high frequency that follows our Quality Standards Manual. The staff’s hard work has definitely resulted in the golf course being in very nice condition. I’m very happy with the golf course condition as we transition into the summer season.

Landscaping areas have been a priority for several weeks. This past week we finished constructing the landscaping area near the blue tees on hole number five. We raised this area higher than it was previously due to wet soil conditions and water puddling. The area was then filled with black soil and smoothed in preparation for the new plant materials.

We also started renovating the rock walls on the waterfall landscaping behind number ten green. The entire lower level has been completed. The rock wall was raised approximately twelve inches and black soil was added. By raising the rock wall and creating a level planting bed, it will help eliminate erosion. Three additional levels still need renovation, along with new plant materials. This area will be addressed when time permits.

Today we hauled new black topsoil to the gazebo landscaping behind number ten tees. The black soil was mounded to help create a better area to plant the new materials. It will also be a lot more aesthetically pleasing. Mulch will be added to this area once the new plant materials are in place.

It’s been a lot of hard work by volunteers and staff to get the landscaping areas closer to completion. We have spent a lot of time hauling water to ensure all the plants stay hydrated, especially with above-normal temperatures. It will be a constant task throughout the remainder of the year until all these new plants are established.

One of our recent projects was renovating the driving range fairway bunkers. We freshly edged these traps and added new sand to an acceptable depth. This is a nice improvement for our practice facility.

The Muni hosted the Mainstreet golf event on Friday afternoon. We also hosted the Carl Spackler on Saturday with tee times going off the front nine in the morning. The second day of the Carl Spackler was a shotgun start on Sunday morning. These were all great events with high participation numbers. There were a lot of new faces golfing on Saturday and Sunday.

This week we will be hosting open golf along with our standing golf leagues. The weather will be very hot the next couple of days and we encourage everyone to hydrate as much as possible. June is a very busy month with several golf outings but open golf is still available on most days.

Our maintenance staff will continue to work on landscaping, hauling sand to traps, and daily maintenance practices the remainder of the week.

All of our clubhouse staff is currently in full swing. Four new individuals have gone through the training process and are eager to be part of the clubhouse team this season.

The engineering contract with Kruse, Cate, and Nelson will be on the city council agenda on Monday, June 15. This contract will allow us to start preparation for the project we have scheduled for October. It is the first step in the process of getting this project in motion.

Please reach out with any questions or if you need further information on a topic at the golf course.
