Good Evening,
The golf course board and I have been working this past year on a donor board for The Muni. There were multiple meetings with Shawn Morton at SS Graphics before we settled on the final product. I couldn’t be happier with how this turned out. It’s simply beautiful.
We are asking our members and the community to help us raise funds to replace all the trees lost in the past few years. Monetary donations can be made in three different increments and include your name on a sample of the golf ball.
Also, we are looking for volunteers to adopt a hole and manage the landscaping areas once the renovation is complete. These volunteers will also be represented on the wall. They will be responsible for the upkeep of the designated landscaping areas once the new plant materials are planted.
#12 on 5-1-2026.jpegWe continued to address some of the tile issues on the southeast corner of the golf course. The farthest east tile was exposed and the line was cleaned of tree roots that were present. We still have one small section of tile that needs repair.
East Tile 4-29-2026.jpegI spent quite a bit of time on the sprayer this past week. The tees, fairways, green surrounds and sand trap surrounds were all treated with a pre-emergent to eliminate crabgrass. This annual task is completed once soil temperatures reach 50 degrees.
#5 on 5-1-2026.jpegI also started spraying a herbicide to control the dandelions and other broadleaf weeds present on the grounds. I completed all the tees, fairways, green surrounds, sand trap surrounds, yardage grasses, and landscaping areas. The rough on holes #2, #11, #12, #13, and most of #14 were also treated. I will continue spraying this coming week.
May brings us the start of the majority of the golf leagues at The Muni. We still have open golf on the opposite nine each evening. Golf course maintenance practices begin on a consistent daily schedule at this time of the season. The actual growing season is starting, and our Quality Standards are implemented.
