Good Morning,

The warm weather really brings a sense of Spring which in turn makes us all think about golf. Even though there is the itch to play some golf on a 50 degree Winter day, please respect that the golf course is closed and stay off the grounds.

I was able to go out and look at quite a few areas of the golf course this past week. Any snow that was remaining on the golf course has pretty much disappeared. The low areas on many of the greens have plenty of moisture after the snow melts. The high areas of the greens are starting to become very dry and foot traffic can be very detrimental.
The greens look to be in very nice shape, but the lack of precipitation is definitely a concern. It would be extremely beneficial to receive some rainfall in the next week or so.
Winter started off great with 18″ of snow cover on the golf greens which unfortunately didn’t last very long. Exposed greens in February and early March are always very concerning to me. We have experienced turf loss on our greens each of the past three seasons even after applying water to many of the greens in the month of February. Hopefully we get a little support from Mother Nature.
We hosted the Spencer Young Professionals trivia night this past Tuesday in the clubhouse. It was a very fun evening and all of those attending had a great time. It’s great to host non golf events during the off season. All of the non-golfing guests are very complimentary of the facility. The trivia nights and music bingo events have been very successful. We definitely look forward to them returning each year.

The Golf Board passed a small fee increase for season passes and punch cards for the 2026 golf season. These fees will next go to the city council for final approval before they take effect. All of our fees are still available at 2025 pricing on the website or arrangements can be made to stop in the clubhouse for payment.

Our 2026/27 budget has been submitted and approved by the finance committee. The Capital improvement Plan has also been submitted and is currently under review. Once the city council has approved the equipment and projects I will share more details about what to expect for the golf course in 2026.

Enjoy the beautiful weather today and the upcoming week. Please reach out if you have any questions or would like further information on a topic at the golf course.
