Good Morning,
This past week we experienced some great golf weather at The Muni. Fall is such a great time to play golf and it was nice to see so many people taking advantage of the weather. Hopefully the weather cooperates today so we can finish the weekend with plenty of golf.
The golf course and clubhouse will be closed from Monday, October 26 through Friday, October 30 for the cart path overlay project. Our cart sheds will be locked and we request no private cart traffic on the golf course. Large equipment will be operating on the course and at the clubhouse each day.
Blacktop Services will install new asphalt cart paths around the clubhouse and driving range and they will complete an overlay on the current cart path surfaces around the golf course. It will be a wonderful addition as we close out the 2026 golf season. The contractor expects to complete the project by the end of the week. Hopefully the weather cooperates and everything runs smoothly during the process.
On Thursday staff planted thirty new trees through a grant with the Iowa DNR. An additional thirty trees will arrive in the Spring of 2027 through this grant process. The Golf Board is currently seeking donations to continue planting a minimum of 60 trees annually. Monetary donations can be made at the clubhouse or City Hall.
The City of Spencer has posted the job prospectus for the next Director of Golf at The Muni. Visit the City of Spencer Facebook page or contact City Hall for more details. This position will be posted for no longer than 30 days. Once the new Director is hired, we will go through the training process until my retirement in February.
