Spencer Municipal Golf Course Construction Updates!

The Spencer Municipal Golf course started the construction process of a new clubhouse in August of 2008. There is a tentative completion date for the fall of 2009. The new facility will have nearly 4800 ft2 plus an additional sun room attached. The new clubhouse will allow the golf course to accommodate our participants in tournaments and golf outings. The new facility will operate as a snack bar only kitchen with catering options for any golf events. The new clubhouse has been anticipated since the renovation and construction of our 18 hole golf course in 1999.
The foundation and concrete work was started, by the city, in August and completed by mid November. There were many different departments that participated in the completion of this stage of construction. The Street Division, Cemetery, Golf Course, Public Works, Planning Department, and volunteers all played a key role in this process. The slide show provides a pictorial of the work done in preparation for the general contractor.
The general contractor is Everly Construction. They began the frame work in mid November. These pictures will help document the progress of our new clubhouse facility to date. Everly Construction will turn the facility over to the City of Spencer in July of 2009. At this time, volunteer labor will be used to complete the project. Some of the areas the volunteer labor will be utilized in is the interior and exterior painting, floor covering, trim work, cabinets, and counter tops. This web page will be updated as the project progresses.
